✨This week The Gray Group’s 52 Weeks of Giving in Memory of Wayne Gray is pleased to support Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project with a $10,000 gift. MacPhail Woods works to restore the Island’s native ecology, through demonstration, education, and restoration. 🌱

Their work has proven visionary; today planting with native species is recognized as an essential part of creating healthy communities, the benefits of nature education are known and they are seeing, firsthand, the importance of resilient ecosystems in mitigating the negative impacts of climate change. 🌏

MacPhail Woods touches the lives of thousands of Islanders every year, through workshops, nature camps, school visits, restoration projects and partnerships.

The donation will be used for the 140 native species of tree, shrub, wildflower and fern that they are growing. The plants are used by watershed groups, government agencies and the public. 🌳🪻🌿

Singlehandedly they have restored eight native species on the brink of extirpation. It will also be used to collect new species, find new seed sources and to purchase equipment needed to clean, stratify and store the seed.
