Week 20 of 52
52 Weeks in Memory of Wayne Gray is pleased to support the PEI Humane Society. In particular, the gift will assist with their new animal shelter that has been in the works for over a decade. This project (set to open in the summer of 2025) will see a brand new animal welfare facility built to house the Island’s lost, homeless and abandoned animals.

As part of the Society’s mission to advance animal welfare for the province of PEI, the team has built a surgical suite in the new facility, which will allow the shelter to provide veterinary care beyond their current capabilities. This space will revolutionize operations for the Island’s only animal shelter, allowing the team to provide direct veterinary care for the animals under its charge.
The PEI Humane Society cares for nearly 2,000 animals every year. With a community-minded approach, the shelter provides needed services aimed at keeping pets where they belong: at home with those who love them. Community-centered programming from the shelter includes a Pet Pantry Program, Safe Haven Emergency Housing Services, and Animal Protection Services, among many others.
